Unlike elephant ivory which trade is prohibited, mammoth ivory has become a trendy jewellery making material. 

According to French weekly news magazine L’Express, “Michelle Obama regularly sports necklaces or bracelets designed by Monique Péan, one of the 2009 CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund prizewinners, who uses mammoth ivory. Some trendy designers, like Bibi van der Velden or Ivory Jacks, also work with that back-to-the-forefront material.
