A complex material
Selection. Since the time of ancient Egypt, bone has been used to create small accessories and jewelry. Because it is porous and has an uneven color, this material is difficult to work with and requires careful selection. Only a small portion of it can be used.
The technique. The bone sculptures take shape using a marquetry technique that dates back to ancient civilizations. The various elements are carved and then assembled to bring the works to life.
Detailed scenes. Among the great masters of bone carving, some create works of art that are incredibly precise and full of life—and always astonishing.
