Their Making. Our tapestries are entirely handwoven in workshops located in North China, by means of a weaving technique named basse lisse (or basse lice) as the loom used is horizontal – unlike traditional Aubusson wall hangings made on a horizontal loom (haute lisse). Moreover, by reason of landscape, verdure and character motifs, the weaving is thin. To bring out specific details, wool and silk threads are simultaneously used.

Inspired Motifs for Inspiring Pieces. Colours, characters’ expressions and balance matter as much in tapestry as in painting. Some wall tapestries are inspired by existing paintings or still lifes.
